My artists books are containers, depositories of personal stories. They have evolved from two dimensional surfaces to having solid, yet fragile structures that can be manipulated and therefore read by the viewer. The techniques used in the creation of these works reflect a mixture of cultures, the process of cultural integration that I begun experiencing when i returned to the US. I turned to weaving, hand-made paper, sewing, and old photographs because these were techniques that I grew up surrounded with. They were my source of inspiration. Nevertheless, being "trained" in Fine Arts in the US, I learned new techniques that added and complemented my vocabulary, developing into a distinctive style. As I continue to work with this medium, I continue to change and incorporate new ideas and techniques.
